Our designer Laura grew up with gardens. When she was just a little girl, her father created a small woodland area near to their Cheshire home, so nature, plants and land management were a big part of her childhood. Family days out were always to arboreta or wonderful gardens – never theme parks that’s for sure!
Laura’s first job was as a trainee with local gardener and plantsman Herbert Zimmerman who encouraged her to take on a horticulture apprenticeship at Reaseheath College. To this day, she credits him with her knowledge and love of plants. Every week he would test her on the Latin and common names, (and the attributes), of the plants she was working with – which explains why her plant knowledge is so impressive!
After completing her apprenticeship, Laura moved on to a degree in garden and landscape design at Reaseheath. After graduating, she joined Dreamscape Gardens in 2017 as trainee designer, and is fast proving herself to be a valuable resource, already taking on smaller projects herself. Outside of work she likes drawing and rock climbing.
